The Florida Panthers traded Quebec forward Anthony Duclair to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.
In return, the Panthers bring in 27-year-old center Steven Lorentz, according to the Daily Faceoff website.
The 27-year-old has picked up just nine points in 20 games in the injury-plagued 2022/23 season. However, he bounced back in the playoffs, scoring 11 points in 20 games and helping the Panthers reach the Stanley Cup Finals.
Duclair has one more season ahead of him on a contract that pays him $3 million a year. The Panthers decided to trade him for payroll reasons.
For his part, Lorentz had 19 points in 80 games with the Sharks in 2022-23 after spending the previous two seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Two and a half million for carrier
The Predators have announced they have signed Quebec defenseman Alexandre Carrier to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million.
The 26-year-old full-back picked up nine points in 43 games last season. He had done better in 2021–2022 with a 30-point harvest in 77 games.
