But when Shanann found out she was pregnant with her third child, there was hope. After returning from a short trip, she stopped responding to texts from her best friend calling the police. Then it turned out that Shanann and her daughters had disappeared. Christopher said he didn’t know anything about his family’s whereabouts but was willing to help with the investigation.

Christopher as a suspect
The disappearance thrilled the media and Christopher was apparently devastated. However, when he is invited to take a lie detector test, he fails and becomes the prime suspect. In a bid to defend himself, Christopher claimed Shanann strangled his two daughters after he filed for divorce. In supposed selfdefense, he is said to have suffocated the woman and hidden the bodies in an oil tank belonging to the company where he worked.

This version did not convince investigators and in March 2019 Christopher confessed to the three murders. He reported that after an argument he strangled Shanann, killed the girls and dumped the bodies in front of his children on the premises of the company where he worked.

An unanswered riddle
Christopher was sentenced to five life terms. However, one question remains unanswered. Although he confessed to the crimes, he never revealed the reason why he murdered his family. Although it was known at the time that he was involved in an extramarital relationship, the motive behind his heinous acts remains an unsolved mystery.
