Austrian Grand Prix results confirmed as Sainz and Hamilton are among downgraded drivers – Formula 1

This has now been leaked by the FIA ​​and Sainz, Hamilton, Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Esteban Ocon, Logan Sargeant, Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda have all been hit with further penalties.

The new results see Sainz drop from P4 to P6 while Norris moves up to P4 and Fernando Alonso to P5. Hamilton falls from P7 to P8 while teammate George Russell moves up to P7.

According to the stewards, the retrospective penalties were imposed as follows:

  • For four violations, a time penalty of five seconds; for five violations a time penalty of 10 seconds.

  • Then, due to the excessive number of violations, a “reset” was allowed. The violation count begins again. After four more violations, a time penalty of five seconds will be imposed; after five a 10-second time penalty.

The stewards also added that they “very strongly recommend” finding a solution to the track restrictions at the Spielberg circuit.
