The information was confirmed to the journal by a relative of the lady on Monday afternoon.

Ms Racine and another person, a man in his 40s, have both been missing since torrential rain caused several subsidences last weekend.

She and her husband, Jean-Philippe Caty, were about to head to Fjord du Saguenay National Park to clear debris that was clogging it when they were caught off guard by a violent gust of water.

The man was thrown through the air and suffered serious leg injuries. In a rush of adrenaline, he did everything he could to save his companion, who got stuck deep in the mud. He failed to stop his descent toward Eternity River.

“He was completely stuck for two hours, screaming and bleeding,” said a person who has known the two victims for several years.
