Viktor Yanukovych, Putin’s potential puppet leader, urges Zelensky to stop war

Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, whom Vladimir Putin sees as a puppet leader candidate if Russia can overthrow the Ukrainian government, wrote a letter to Volodymyr Zelensky urging him to refrain from “fighting to the last drop of blood.”

Yanukovych, who took refuge in the Rostov region of Russia after being expelled from Ukraine in 2014, wrote to Zelensky that “you must dream of becoming a real hero. But heroism is not for show and not for fighting to the last drop of blood. This is some kind of self-sacrifice, a victory over your pride and the desire to save a life.

He goes on to ask Zelensky to stop the conflict — as if the Kiev government had started a war — and says that Ukraine, rebel-held Donbass and Russia expect him and Western partners to be happy too.
