Celine Dion was named the 10th best Canadian singer in history by Rolling Stone magazine.

After magazine removed Celine Dion from its list of the greatest singers of all time Rolling Stone places the diva of Charlemagne in 10th placee position the list of the best Canadian musicians in history.

The American magazine had sparked controversy earlier this year by not including the performer of My Heart Will Go On in its ranking of the greatest singers, prompting some Quebecoise fans to take their dissatisfaction as far as New York.

The publication also seems to be trying to avoid those outbursts of angry fans in the introduction to this new list released to mark Canada Day.

“Are all the major Canadian musicians there? NO. But the 50 that we like the most are here,” specifies the American magazine.

Rolling Stone also used his introduction to express its “sincere and respectful condolences” to fans of various artists who have been knocked off the charts, while also citing Quebec bands Voivod and Bran Van 3000.

Behind Alanis Morissette

This puts Celine Dion in 10th place, just behind Shania Twain, The Weeknd and Alanis Morissette, who were in 7th through 9th place respectively.

A handful of Quebecers can also be found in the Rolling Stone rankings; Rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor inherits 31st place, while sisters Kate and Anne McGarrigle’s tandem sits in 16th place. Arcade Fire and the late Leonard Cohen take 12th and 4th place, respectively.

First place goes to Canadian icon Joni Mitchell.
