According to Palestinian sources, 3,000 people left the refugee camp after an Israeli military operation in the West Bank city of Jenin. Currently, attempts are being made to accommodate people in schools and other accommodation in the city, Jenin deputy governor Kamal Abu al-Rub told AFP news agency yesterday.
A spokeswoman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed to AFP that camp residents had left their homes. According to deputy governor al-Rub, around 18,000 Palestinians live in the refugee camp.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, at least eight Palestinians were killed and another 50 were wounded during the operation of the Israeli army in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, occupied by Israel since 1967. The operation involved armored vehicles, army bulldozers and drones.
