The host said that if Lula accepted an invitation to his podcast, he would question the lack of higher education
The presenter and comedian Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, 87, criticized that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) did not have a university degree. He stated that he would ask the PT for an explanation that, as Chief Executive, he had no higher education.
The host of the comedy show “A Praça É Nossa” on SBT (Brazilian Television System) said he invited Lula to be part of his podcast. “The man who doesn’t have high school, college, accounting or anything [ …] be President of the Republic? That is why the country is the way it is,” explained Carlos Alberto in an interview with TV Cultura’s Roda Viva on Monday (July 3, 2023).

Despite the speech, the presenter explained that he “does not mix work with his ideals.”
“I don’t have a party. Because I have friends in several parties, I avoid talking about politics,” he explained.
Carlos Alberto also said that in his program on SBT he satirized some actions of the Lula government. As an example, he cites when Planalto bought a daybed for more than R$60,000 and when the PT received Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
“When Lula brought Maduro and they laid out the red carpet for him, I laid it out on the court that same week,” he said.
Speaking of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the comedian praised him and said he was honored by the then Prime Minister in 2019. According to him, the former executive branch chief had “a hell of a party” when he met him the day before his congressional visit.
On the day of the ceremony in honor of Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega in the chamber, Bolsonaro made his way on foot from the Planalto to the Casa Baixa headquarters. “I don’t think any president has ever done that to any comedian,” the host said.
