Robert De Niro is “deeply devastated” at the death of his “beloved” grandson.

Leandro De Niro Rodriguez passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 19. The 79-year-old actor responded in a statement yesterday.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo. We appreciate everyone’s condolences. We ask that we be able to mourn in complete privacy,” the actor said.
The news of Leandro’s death was announced on Instagram by his mother, Drena De Niro, the actor’s adopted daughter. “I would have liked to have been with you. I don’t know how to live without you but I will try to move on and spread the love and light that you gave me so much in becoming your mother. You were deeply loved and cherished and I wish love alone could save you,” she shared.
The comments section was quickly inundated with messages of condolences. Naomi Campbell wrote: “Such a duo I can’t imagine how you must be feeling may the lord cover you and hold you in his arms so sad at this time of loss… love you always there for you ( sic)”.
For his part, Lenny Kravitz wrote: “Dearest Drena, I send my deepest condolences to you and your family. All this is indescribable at the moment. I like you… “
Drena De Niro, 51, had her son with artist Carlos Rodriguez. Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s cause of death has not been disclosed.
