The son of Formula 1 world champion James Hunt criticizes Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of his father in the biopic “Rush”: “He played the father like a guy.”
The son of Formula 1 world champion James Hunt, Freddie, has criticized Australian actor Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of his father in the biopic Rush.
Chris played James in the 2013 film about the rivalry between the racer and Niki Lauda.
Freddie told the Pitstop Podcast he wasn’t impressed with how the actor portrayed his father in the film.
“I don’t know if I should be mad at Chris or.” [film director] “Ron Howard, because he was basically playing the father,” he said.
“I don’t know if it’s because of his poor acting or if he was instructed to act that way.”

Freddie continued, “Daniel Brûhl, who played Niki, did an absolute masterpiece.”
“He actually asked Niki if he could spend some time with him so he could learn his manners and really get to know him.”
The film tells the story of the 1976 Formula 1 season.

James won the world title by just a point over Niki after a controversial season in which Niki suffered a near-fatal accident after his Ferrari exploded into a fireball at the Nurburgring.
Miraculously, Niki, who had been instrumental in convincing Lewis Hamilton to switch to Mercedes, returned to the cockpit after missing just two races but just missed defending the title.
The film also explores the personal lives of the two racers, including James’ failed marriage to supermodel Suzy Miller.
