The rotisserie chain founded by Jean-Pierre Léger had asked several personalities such as Celine Dion, Guy Laliberté and several others to take part in a television campaign that honored its public image. Denise Bombardier had spontaneously agreed to make fun of herself in 2014 and like the other personalities, she had paid her fee to charity. She had decided to help vulnerable women.

“Denise, we asked you to announce the ribs. You can eat them with a knife and fork, but you usually eat them with your fingers and get dirty in the process. The perception we have of Denise Bombardier is that she was a little valuable. So we asked her if she’d be willing to lick her fingers and she said: Absolutely! It was really sweet!” recalls Jean-Pierre Léger, who has followed Ms. Bombardier’s long career with interest.

“I’ve always liked this woman with her open mind,” says the woman who listened to an interview with Stéphan Bureau that afternoon.

“It’s still a memorial we’re losing … I have very fond memories of her.”

Lise Watier mourns the loss of a friend

Denise Bombardier had also formed a friendship with Lise Watier. Both women were Quebec pioneers in their respective fields; the first in the media and the second among entrepreneurs.

For Ms. Watier, Denise was an irreplaceable figure.

“He was a man of superlative intelligence, a fighter who feared nothing. She could be either very serious or very funny; a lesser-known side of his personality. She had this boundless energy that I always admired. Too sudden a loss!” said the founder of Watier Cosmetics, offering her condolences to her friend’s family.

The President and Chief Executive Officer of the Business Development Bank of Canada and former Canadian Ambassador to France, Isabelle Hudon, also gave heartfelt tribute to her friend Denise Bombardier, who was a role model for her that enabled her to “dare”.

“She will not have been a role model for me, as for thousands of girls and women, but a model of ambition, determination, conviction and intellectual courage.” She will have shown us how to say what we have and want to say . His greatest lesson: the robustness and strength of his arguments. She never left without documenting her ideas and thoughts. This is where she always impressed me… agree or disagree, her arguments were SPECIFIC. She defended us and pushed us forward with great strides.
