Robert De Niro’s grandson received a final hug from his mother
On July 3, Drena De Niro posted a black and white photo of her firstborn smiling and a letter to her Instagram account.
“I can hardly write when I’m in tears,” she admitted, before saying she was grateful for all the support she’s received during this difficult time.
This Monday, TMZ reported that “police sources” had informed them that Robert De Niro’s grandson was found dead “sitting in a chair” in a New York City apartment.
“We were told there were no obvious signs leading to his death. “He was found by a friend who hadn’t heard from him in a few days and asked how he was,” they explained.
According to the outlet, authorities reported that they were already investigating Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s death “as an overdose.”

In her most recent “post,” Drena judged, “None of this is right or fair, and my heart aches in a way I never thought possible, even though I’m still breathing and barely working.”
“Leo, my dear, I love you today like the first day I held you in my arms. The same man who picked us up from the hospital when you gave birth took us to the funeral home, where I touched you and gave you one last hug.
The interpreter assured her that her offspring “made everything bearable and made every burden lighter” and that she couldn’t believe “that none of this is real.”
“You didn’t deserve to die like this, but I can only believe that God needed a strong and powerful angel in his army. I support you every second and every moment,” he said.
“I am my heart and my memories until I am with you again. My heart is broken forever. Me, dad and your family love you. I love you with every beat of my crying heart.
Robert De Niro and his family prepare for Leandro’s farewell
Yesterday afternoon, Robert De Niro and Drena, who he adopted when he was married to Diahnne Abbott, were caught together by the Chron after the incident.
They both went to the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, along with artist Carlos Rodriguez, Leandro’s father.
The ‘Casino’ star returned to his home near the venue after saying goodbye to his grandson, who is following in his acting footsteps.
