“Denise was a girl who seemed arrogant and confident. But she sometimes had the side of a little girl of four and a half, says Ms Filiatrault. She was afraid of illness, she was afraid that something would happen. She defended herself by appearing to be confident about everything, which was not the case.

“My daughter Daniele [Lorain] knew she wasn’t feeling well because she had told him that she had been in pain somewhere for a year. She didn’t want to be treated.

Denise Filiatrault knew Denise Bombardier well. When the first bought her condo in Florida, the second bought one “maybe two years later.” The two neighbors saw each other regularly.

“She was an early riser and so was I,” says Ms. Filiatrault. She came home between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. to have a coffee. We talked. She was a girl interested in everything. I liked him.”

Generous and intelligent

When she found out about his death on Tuesday morning, Denise Filiatrault was sad. “I wasn’t ashamed of her. When she left I replied on my side! We got along well. [rires] She was a generous girl. She adored her son, her granddaughter, her friends.”

“We are losing an intelligent woman who knew what she was talking about, who wasn’t afraid to say what was on her mind, who was very interesting,” adds Ms. Filiatrault. She was very cultured. She shared her knowledge with many young people.

Is 92-year-old Denise Filiatrault thinking about her own death after losing a close friend like Denise Bombardier? “It’s obvious. But you try not to think about it too much. You have so little left that if you have to think about it, you’ll make it up to you… So no!”
