“From the set of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2: I am pleased to announce that we have begun filming Season 2. It’s so nice to be back on set. This year we’re adapting The Fifth Witness and have some amazing additions to the cast, crew and writing team. It is going to be great! -MC”

In the post, Rodrigue explains:
“Today is the final day of production for the second season of Lincoln Lawyer. This is my fifth season of television working with one of my best friends, @matthewlbrmn. Not only is he a great person, but he is also a talented writer/producer.
We couldn’t have made it through this season without him or one of the writers. It’s a talented and friendly group of people. Ted and I are so lucky.
We couldn’t have made it without this phenomenal cast and crew either. It takes a village.
I can’t wait for everyone to see what we cooked.”
In January 2023, we learned that filming was taking place on location in Los Angeles, with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo starring in the classic convertible while filming scenes for the show’s second season.
New cast and returning cast for Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer
Let’s start with the returning cast members:
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will be back to reprise his role as Mickey Haller.
Also returning are Neve Campbell (Maggie McPherson), Becki Newton (Lorna), Jazz Raycole (Izzy) and Angus Sampson (Cisco).
Christopher Gorham, who played Trevor Elliott in Season 1, will not be returning.
Neve Campbell will play a reduced role in The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2
Neve Campbell was a series regular in Season 1 of The Lincoln Lawyer, and Campbell will continue to appear in Season 2, albeit as a “recurring guest star.” That means we’ll see less of the star in season two.
The news came along with the announcement of new ABC show Avalon, in which Campbell will star. This show, like The Lincoln Lawyer, is directed by David E. Kelley.
Lana Parrilla and Yaya DaCosta have been added to the cast of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2
Ahead of filming, Deadline exclusively revealed the cast of two significant new faces and characters for Season 2.
- Lana Parilla (Why Women Kill, Once Upon a Time) will play Lisa Trammell, described as a “beloved cook and community advocate” who struggles to keep her restaurant afloat while a predatory real estate developer threatens the neighborhoods around her.
- Yaya DaCosta (Chicago Med, Our Kind of People) will play Andrea “Andy” Freeman, described as a murderous prosecutor and Mickey Haller’s undefeated courtroom rival, who is also friends with his ex-wife Maggie.
Angélica María will also appear in the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer
Deadline also announced this in January 2023 Matt Angel had joined the cast. Angel confirmed the casting in an Instagram post, adding, “I’m excited to join this team for Season 2.” Angel is best known for his role on the FX series Dave.
According to Deadline’s report, Angel will “play Henry Dahl, a cosmopolitan scholar with hipster hair and clothes. He is the host of a hit true crime podcast in which he plays the role of a Good Samaritan.”
In February 2023, The Wrap confirmed that Mexican actress Angélica María had joined the cast and would play Mickey’s mother, Elena.
Here is the description of her character, according to The Wrap:
“Elena is described as a prominent film and television actress who considers herself a star and was married to Mickey’s father, a star lawyer – a self-absorbed mother who wants to be the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral. Her need to be the center of attention has distorted her relationship with her son.”
This includes joining the cast in recurring roles or guest roles Robert Horry, Clint Carmichael as Mitchell Bondurant, Douglas Bennett as Kaz, brian dare as DDA Earnest Moore and Ryan W Garcia as Rene Morales.

Which book will be adapted in Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer?
Here’s the order of the books and where we could go in each season from now on:
- The Lincoln Attorney (2005)
- The Brass Verdict (2008) – adapted in Season 1
- The Reversal (2010)
- The Fifth Witness (2011) – will be adapted in season 2
- The Gods of Guilt (2013)
- The Law of Innocence (2020)
Netflix will be adapting The Fifth Witness for its second season, which means we’re skipping 2010’s entry, The Reversal.
Here’s an overview of what happened in this book, courtesy of GoodReads:
“Mickey Haller has been through tough times. He expands his business into foreclosure defense only to see one of his clients accused of killing the banker she blames for trying to take her home.
Mickey puts his team into overdrive to exonerate Lisa Trammel, despite the evidence and his own suspicions telling him his client is guilty. Shortly after he learns that the victim himself was involved in black market transactions, Haller is also attacked – and he is sure that he is on the right track.
Despite the danger and uncertainty, Haller is providing the best defense of his career in a trial where the final upset comes after the verdict.”
Final review for The Lincoln Lawyer
Just a quick recap of Season 1 before we dive into what we can and can expect should the show return for a second season.
We follow Mickey Haller as he is thrown in at the deep end after inheriting Jerry Vincent’s practice and cases. The biggest case in the first season is Trevor Elliot. While Elliot was eventually released in court, he died after being shot. We still don’t know if Elliot even committed the alleged crime against him.
Mickey came to the other side (not without a few bruises and scratches), fully logged out and able to continue working on his cases after his long absence from the job.
The season ends with Mickey able to surf again, but the man with the tattoo, who’s been in the background for the whole of season one, watches from afar, and then the show rolls out.
Cisco also has its own problems. He left the Saints, but Mickey had to foot the bill. What will come out of there? We’ll have to see. What we do know is that by the start of Season 2, Lorna and Cisco will be actively planning their wedding while both go about their jobs. Could the wedding take place at this time of the year? We’ll have to wait to find out.
As you may know, the first season of the Netflix series adapts the second part of the series instead of rehashing the first one we saw in the Matthew McConaughey film. There were tweaks, but we mostly stayed with the same story as the source material.
While you wait for The Lincoln Lawyer to return, we highly recommend listening to The Lincoln Law Pod. Hosted by SoManyShows; The pod recaps the events of season one alongside showrunner Ted Humphrey, who provides fascinating insight into the history and production of the Netflix show.
