The Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director opened up about his decision not to cast the actor in his new film in a new interview with Variety.
In the previous installment in the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the Transformers star played Mutt Williams, the adventurer’s long-lost son who has been hidden by his former love, Marion Ravenwood.
“(This movie) is disconnected from all the studios of the past, from the political intrigues surrounding the movies I didn’t do,” James Mangold said of Indiana Jones’s final work.
