6yearold girl uses Alexa to ask for help and saves her mother

A 6yearold UK girl named Darcey has more than once managed to save the life of her mother, Emma Anderson, 27, by asking Alexa, Amazon’s virtual assistant, for help.

Emma was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy as a teenager, according to the Chron. The disease causes the heart muscle to become too thick and the function of the organ is impaired. As a result, she was often ill.

To prevent the worst, the British set up Alexa and taught their daughter to ask the virtual assistant for help: just say the words that the device called her mother, who lives in the same neighborhood. Once Darcey even called an ambulance using Alexa.

“I’m so proud of her, she’s a little star. We said that I had a bad heart and that if I felt sick or passed out, she had to say, “Alexa, call for help,” Emma told the vehicle.

She was on the transplant list and got a new organ last year. Since the operation she has had to stay in the hospital for a long time and learn to walk again, but today she can take her daughter to the playground and the beach. “It’s simple things that I wasn’t able to do before. Now I can be a mother,” she said.

smart devices

Smart devices are becoming more and more popular. Speakers with virtual assistants like Alexa, smart TVs, robot vacuum cleaners and smart lamps are already routine for many consumers. However, connected homes still raise many questions from users.

Mobile apps make it possible to control devices from outside the home. Samsung’s SmartThings app is an example of a platform that allows users to manage their smart devices through their smartphone. With it, the user can turn lights on and off, adjust the thermostat of a smart air conditioner, and even monitor home security—all from their smartphone.

Connected home technology allows you to monitor home security and alert users to potential threats. Smart security cameras can send alerts to users’ smartphones when they detect suspicious movement or sound, enabling home surveillance from anywhere.
