In 2019, Quentin Tarantino claimed that a Kill Bill sequel was in the works. However, his next film is called The Movie Critic. What has happened since then?
Before the announcement of Quentin Tarantino’s “latest movie” entitled “The Movie Critic,” there was much speculation about a “Kill Bill Vol. 3.” A feature film in which Uma Thurman, the actress who played the lead role of Beatrix Kiddo, could have starred alongside her daughter Maya Hawke. But Tarantino said so a few days ago via De Morgen’s website Fans had to get that idea out of their heads as his future recordings will be about film criticism, which will center on a journalist in the 70’s.
There have always been rumors of a third installment in the Kill Bill saga. Here Tarantino appears to be coming back to his words, as he said during a 2019 radio interview with Andy Cohen that a third volume for Kill Bill was well planned. He explained that if there was a sequel to any of those films, it wouldn’t be Reservoir Dogs, it wouldn’t be Pulp Fiction, it would be Kill Bill.
I just had dinner with Uma Thurman last night. We went to a really cool Japanese restaurant. I have an idea what I would do with Kill Bill Vol.3. I tried to sell Uma the concept. What happened to the Black Mamba since then? Tarantino to Cohen during the 2019 radio interview

The director had added that he didn’t want to propose an easy, somewhat silly adventure. In his opinion, Beatrix Kiddo didn’t deserve this after such a long and hard fight. Tarantino then stated that he would not be doing this sequel right away and that it would be ready in at least three years, and that he was sure he wanted to do the project.
Since then, plans have changed. Quentin Tarantino reiterates that The Movie Critic, his tenth film, will be his last. Unfortunately, few people seem to believe his words. It’s hard to imagine real retirement for a creative like Tarantino, especially given examples like Clint Eastwood, who continued making films well into his 90s. Kill Bill fans can only hope that Quentin Tarantino will reconsider his decisions in the future.
