Negotiations between William Nylander and the Toronto Maple Leafs appear to be quite difficult given the latest information from TSN insider Chris Johnston.
On his podcast, The Chris Johnston Show, the journalist hinted that the discussions were “not going well.”
“You see things differently. Nylander sees himself as a $10 million player, maybe even a little more. He has a lot to say given his performance last season, but I just don’t see how the Leafs can meet that demand.
“Ultimately, it remains to be seen how much Nylander wants to stay in Toronto.”
Still, according to Johnston, the Maple Leafs’ offer would be around $8 million.
Nylander, 27, is coming off his most productive season in which he has 87 points, including 40 goals, in 82 games. In the playoffs, he had 10 points in 11 games, including four goals.
