In the evening, Thérèse Desbiens’ niece broke the silence.

“I can say today that we are somewhat relieved that the person has been arrested,” said Linda Forgues in a brief message received by our journalist Yves Poirier.

“Thank you to all the people who helped via social media, unity is strength.” […] Despite this drama, nothing is over, we await the rest and will mourn when my aunt’s body is returned to us. Justice will decide the fate of the man who took his life. We must go through a painful grief. I want to thank the people and of course the police officers who have done a remarkable job.”
