Panama City, July 6 (Prensa Latina) Panama President Laurentino Cortizo will hold official talks with South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo today during an official visit to the Isthmus.
According to a statement from the Palacio de las Garzas (seat of the executive), during these talks the parties will deepen the common agenda on diplomatic, commercial and cultural issues.
Duck-soo arrived yesterday at the head of a delegation that was received at Tocumen International Airport in that capital by Foreign Minister Vladimir Franco.
According to the program, during the day the visitor will attend a meeting with Minister of Trade and Industry Federico Alfaro in the Cabinet Room. and from Private Investment, José Rojas; and Deputy Minister for Economy and Finance, Jorge Almengor; and Deputy Deputy Chancellor, Isbeth Quiel, among other authorities.
The South Korean Prime Minister also plans to visit areas of the Panama Canal, the works of the third line of the metro – currently the largest public project in Panama with shares from the Asian country – and the Concretera in Vacamonte, where South Korean companies are based.
This is the first official visit to the Isthmus by a senior Seoul official in 13 years. The previous stay was in 2010 for the then President of South Korea, Lee Myung-bak.
Panama and South Korea established diplomatic relations on September 30, 1962 and currently have a cooperation program to strengthen public administration.
For its part, the Panama-Korea Association was founded in 2012 with the aim of promoting and strengthening commercial, academic, cultural and friendly relations between the two countries.
