They shed light on the development of the Nicaraguan health care model

Managua, July 6 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan Health Minister Martha Reyes highlighted the development of the health model promoted today by the Sandinista government, which guarantees the prevention of 17 diseases.

In comments to the Channel 4 television program Revista en Vivo, the headline noted that the preventive part was the basis of the model, as it was cheaper than the hospital part and represented a priority in restoring the right to health for thousands of Nicaraguans .

The minister referred to the recently completed national influenza vaccination campaign, which was successfully completed after some 600,000 doses of vaccine were given to people over the age of six as part of the family and community health model.

In this sense, he recalled that from 2007 the introduction of a number of important vaccines that did not previously exist in the country began here, including pneumococcal, rotavirus and influenza, among others.

Referring to the current situation of Covid-19, the official explained that this vaccination process is progressing in Nicaragua, where almost 98 percent of the population had received at least a first dose, while 96 percent had full vaccinations.

“This means a significant effort for applying for all health units and the rest of the established system, but also for door-to-door visits,” he emphasized.

Reyes highlighted the work of the workers in the sector who, with their vocation to service and their priority set with quality and love, use these neighborhood vaccines.

He described house-to-house visits as essential not only for the vaccination process but also for other broader activities such as pregnant women recruitment and child development monitoring and other measures.
