The series is set 20 years after the series finale and streams on Prime Video.

In 1999, ‘Ugly Betty’ It would break the history of Colombian television and not only became one of the country’s most-watched soap operas, but also a national and world icon.

Written by the late Fernando Gaitán, the telenovela went all over the world, reaching 180 countries. From there, the series has been reproduced in 15 languages and adapted in as many as 28 territories.

With the success of the novel, a sequel called “Ecomoda” was created in 2001, but it did not have the expected success, partly due to the absence of some characters from the novel.

Well, next year Betty’s story will continue in collaboration with streaming platform Amazon Prime Video and will feature the original cast of the 1999-born soap opera.

This sequel tells the story of Beatriz Pinzón Solano’s marriage, 20 years after her marriage to Armando Mendoza. However, the focus of the novel is on building the relationship between Betty and her teenage daughter.

The dramatic comedy is directed by Mauricio Cruz Fortunato and written by Valeria Gómez and Luis Carlos Ávila.

It’s worth noting that the Ugly Betty sequel will be out on Prime Video in 2024 and is expected to have the success of the first novel.
