The actor Jose Dumont was convicted for possession and storage of pornographic photos and videos of children and young people. The decision was confirmed by Gisele Guida de Faria, Judge of the 1st Special Court for Crimes Against Children and Adolescents of TJRio, and published this Thursday afternoon, 6th.
Due to the actor’s advanced age, José Dumont’s sentence was reduced to one year open detention. The 72yearold man from Paraíba was arrested in September 2022 for storing pornographic material from children and adolescents of different ages.
Just last year, José Dumont was accused of vulnerable rape and pedophilia. He was under investigation for being in a relationship with a 12yearold boy and having sex videos of children on his phone.

José Dumont prison: remember the case
The actor, known for his roles in soap operas such as Nos Tempos do Imperador and the first installment of Pantanal, became the target of a police investigation after security cameras caught him exchanging kisses and intimate caresses with a teenager .
According to the information, José Dumont is said to have maintained a relationship with the 12yearold boy and promised him financial support.
During the investigation, a search and seizure warrant was opened against Dumont’s home in September 2022. When police arrived at the scene, they found videos of child pornography on the artist’s mobile phone and arrested the actor in the act for storing sex images with children.
In October of the same year, the Rio judge ordered the release of José Dumont. According to the court, preventive detention was lifted because the actor was being prosecuted for an art crime. 241B of the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) to store images of pornographic scenes.
According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, preventive detention is not possible in this situation. However, José Dumont had to observe alternative precautions, such as Surveillance with electronic ankle bracelet.
