The second semifinal of Your Face Looks Familiar and four other things to watch on TV today

“It all starts today”

Sundance, 1:50 p.m

Ca begin aujord’hui. France, 1998 (118 minutes). Directed by Bertrand Tavernier. Performers: Philippe Torreton, Maria Pitarresi.

In a region plagued by unemployment, a kindergarten teacher works hard to help his students’ families. So much so that one day a woman abandons her children and he decides to take them home. This admirable work manages the most difficult: outbursts of emotion born of expressive simplicity. And it will be more than just a film: a faithful and meaningful mirror of life itself.

The resort, from comedy to thriller on vacation to rekindle the flame of love

MovistarPlus+

Comedy and thriller come together in the latest premiere of Movistar Plus+. In 2007, Violet and Sam, two teenagers vacationing with their families, meet at a resort in the Riviera Maya just before they disappear without a trace. Fifteen years later, Emma (Cristin Milioti) and Noah (William Jackson Harper) arrive at the same location to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary and rekindle their marriage. There they stumble upon the first clue to the missing young couple’s whereabouts in years: Sam’s phone number. Both decide to investigate the case to rekindle the flame of love.

“The Boys’ Choir”

Movistar Drama, 15.05

Les Choristes. France, 2004 (95 minutes). Directed by Christophe Barratier. Cast: Jean-Baptiste Maunier, Gerard Jugnot, François Berléand.

Inspired by the director’s own childhood, The Choirboys is set in 1949 France and tells the story of a failed musician who takes a job as a supervising teacher at a youth re-education boarding school. The director’s repressive system shocks the protagonist, who, in his efforts to get closer to the students, discovers in music an engine of change. He teaches them to sing, although this is just an indication of how much it will change their lives. A moving drama where the soundtrack is undoubtedly the most memorable part of the film.
