Message from the injured cameraman

Cameraman Pete Stendel suffered a fractured eye socket and is now resting at home after being hit in the head during Wednesday’s game at Yankee Stadium. Check out the footage in the video above.

This was announced by his employer, the YES network, on Thursday.

The staffer had quite a mishap when he was hit by a ball from Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson, who was attempting to complete a double play against the New York Yankees. His shot missed the target and instead hit Stendel, who was working just outside the home team’s dugout.

The incident required a stoppage of more than fifteen minutes and the victim, who was conscious despite everything, had to be transported on a stretcher. As he exited the field, the man greeted the crowd by raising his arm.

“It was nice to see him still sane and to see his hand in the air. However, I saw the footage clearly and it was worrying. “I don’t know how he fell, but I knew what could happen other than the speed and the impact of the ball hitting him,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone told ESPN after the encounter.
