Two days after Xavier Dolan announced that he was giving up cinema, Michel Tremblay, with a loud cry from the bottom of his heart, begged him to reconsider his decision and was published on social networks.

“We all experience moments of tiredness, disgust and fed up, it’s normal, but with the talent you have you have no right to let us down. Do you want me to repeat it? We need you,” the playwright wrote on his Facebook page.
Michel Tremblay is considered a monument of Quebec culture and did not mince his words when it came to the early resignation of director Xavier Dolan, who was only 35 years old.
“Take a vacation, leave your anger and disgust behind, hate me for this news, but come back Calvary, come back! added Tremblay.
The post has since been removed from social media for unknown reasons.
A track record that speaks for itself
Since his first film in 2009, Xavier Dolan has climbed the ladder of the film world and has enjoyed success over the years. His film I Killed My Mother is also the only Quebec work to appear in the top 50 best LGBTQ films of the current century, according to the medium IndieWire.
Since then, the young director has risen among the top Quebec directors of his time, winning the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 with his film Just the End of the World, just two years after winning the Jury Prize.
On Thursday, Dolan announced that he was giving up his career as a major filmmaker after articles appeared in the Spanish media suggesting his retirement. He said he was tired and content with the past fifteen years of creating multiple works.
“As I look at our world, I feel uneasy about my work, which suddenly seems less important to me. And a little pointless. Maybe even… of less interest? “It is a privilege to be able to work in this industry while the world is on fire and that we continue to make films about this burning world,” he said on social media.
