Poll Results: Millennials lie more than any other generation

PlayStar, an online casino, conducted a comprehensive survey in various states of the United States including Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin to examine dishonesty trends in different age groups. 1,306 people took part in the survey and the results were quite revealing.

The survey found that millennials, the demographic born between 1981 and 1996, are more likely to resort to dishonesty in their daily lives, whether at work or on social media. Surprisingly, 13% of millennials say they lie at least once a day.

The baby boomers, i.e. people who were born between 1946 and 1964, proved to be much more honest. According to study results published by the New York Post, only 2% of this demographic admitted to lying at least once a day.

The study not only examined the lying behavior of different age groups, but also carried out a comparative analysis between the sexes. It has been found that when it comes to dishonesty on social media, men are more likely to be dishonest and lie 10% more often than women. In fact, among those surveyed, a higher proportion of men admitted to lying at least once a day than did women.

The study also attempted to understand the reasons behind these lies. Turns out, not all lies are designed to cause harm. Most participants (58%) admitted lying to avoid embarrassment, while 42% admitted lying to protect their privacy. In addition, 42% of respondents said they sometimes lie to protect another person from blame or punishment.
