In an internal process that began the day before, Nuevas Ideas on Sunday afternoon concluded its vote that will have to confirm Nayib Bukele’s candidacy in order to remain at the top of the country’s targets for a new period, although the election results are not yet available known. This exercise is conducted online.

Meanwhile, the right-wing nationalist Republican Alliance (Arena) announced it had doubled its support for the formula proposed by Joel Sánchez and Hilda Bonilla, a unified proposal from the citizen resistance movement led by Fortín Magaña, Ronald Umaña and Rubén Zamora, former party leaders, the Bukele want to detach.
In this regard, Arena’s vice-president for ideology, Ricardo Godoy, said the party will take this step with a message of hope and expects the candidacy to be confirmed in internal elections on July 16.
Meanwhile, Luis Parada and Celia Medrano are emerging as pre-candidates for the presidential formula of another union effort led by the Nuestro Tiempo party and proposed by the Sumar movement
The lawyer Parada and the human rights activist Medrano this Friday presented their registration applications as a presidential formula to be submitted in the internal elections of the bases of the Nuestro Tiempo party. Parada announced the registration request on social networks.
Both must be presented for approval to the inmates of this group, which many place at the heart of the country’s politics, on Saturday, July 15.
Groups such as the Bloque de Resistencia y Rebeldía Popular are also calling on the country’s political forces for “the unity of anti-dictatorship or “anti-bukelistas” forces, particularly to form coalitions, a project that, due to not entirely successful has encountered contradictions between the main opposition parties.
A Gallup poll found that 62 percent of respondents expect their economy to do well over the next 12 months, dispelling those who predict Bukele will perform poorly in this area.
The electoral environment is likely to become more tense in the coming weeks and months, even if the forecasts for Nuevas Ideas opponents are not rosy.
