Madeleine McCann: Investigators update case after reservoir search

In May, new searches were carried out for Madeleine McCann in a reservoir near Barragem do Arade, about 30 kilometers from the resort where the Englishwoman was last seen in 2007. However, according to The Sun newspaper, investigators combing the area found no convincing evidence that Madeleine may have been there.

The new searches at the dam were motivated after police received information that the prime suspect in the case, German Christian Brückner, was there shortly after the girl’s disappearance.

Look for Madeleine McCann

The new searches at the Arade dam were based on the rescue services and authorities of Portugal, Germany and the United Kingdom. On site, the police searched the banks of the water with the help of sniffer dogs and divers from the rescue service, and holes more than two meters deep were drilled around the dam in search of evidence.

Several items of clothing and items were sent to forensic science to investigate if there was any evidence that Madeleine’s body might have been dumped at the scene. So far, however, no evidence has been found.
