Agnes Maria ChapmanDeputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Chairman the Cuban delegation participating in activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Bahamas, The State Department highlighted today.
According to a statement published on the organization’s website, the visit follows an invitation from the government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas to celebrate Independence Day from the United Kingdom on July 10.
Chapman was received by Philip Davis, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Bahamas, whom she thanked for the invitation and brought a message of congratulations from President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and the Cuban people, the text continued.
At the meeting, which the State Department described as cordial and friendly, Davis reiterated his country’s stance on opposing the sanctions imposed on Cuba.
Both parties expressed the need to strengthen the unity of the countries, to continue working on issues of common interest such as climate change and to strengthen current cooperation by extending it to other areas such as sport.
