WASHINGTON, July 11 (Portal) – US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller twice in a row this Monday reiterated that the conflict in Ukraine spelled a failure for the Kiev regime.
“In answer to your first question, we believe the war was a strategic failure for Ukraine,” Miller said at a news conference.
When journalists covering the event suggested he was probably referring to Russia, the announcer repeated the same thing: “Sorry, a strategic failure for Ukraine, thanks for the correction.”
He was later reminded of the apparent error and Miller again apologized for the slip-up, finally saying the message was officially approved by the American institution. The spokesman claimed he hadn’t given press conferences in a week and was therefore “rusty”.
The United States has been talking for months about Ukraine’s apparent military prowess and NATO’s massive support for Kiev in terms of arms, equipment and ammunition. However, President Joe Biden assured CNN over the weekend that Washington was sending banned cluster munitions to Ukraine because both the Ukrainian and US military were running out of conventional artillery shells.
From Moscow, in turn, they pointed out that such a capitulation was “a gesture of desperation and a sign of impotence” and a new manifestation of Washington’s aggressive anti-Russian policy.
According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, the US decision is nothing more than “a cynical attempt to prolong the agony of the current Ukrainian authorities without considering the civilian casualties.” (Text: Actualidad RT) (Photo: Screenshot)
