Gramellini instead of Giletti, David Parenzo instead of Myrta Merlino. These are the novelties of the La7 program, which confirms all its historical programs that form the identity of the network, a network that combines information and analysis, inquiries and cultural entertainment, but also satire. “La7 clearly reinforces its identity in a period of great changes for Italian television and the country, to tell the present and remember the past, offering daily keys to understand the reality in which we live.” Massimo Gramellini finds at the weekend with a double appointment on Saturday and Sunday: a compass for reading and understanding current events. The new schedule also includes raids by the historic Alessandro Barbero, who will be in charge of the main and late night specials. Rounding out the range of in-depth analysis is a collaboration with Ezio Mauro, who will be signing a special in the new season of Atlantis.
From January, La7 will tell the story of the country in prime time with a new investigative program based on the consolidated experience of the Piazzapulita team. It will read 100′ (one hundred minutes) and will be signed by Corrado Formigli and Alberto Nerazzini.
The rest of the program is based on the pillars that have become part of viewers’ habits. Like the daily information on Enrico Mentana’s TgLa7. In addition to the 8pm edition, the director of the magazine will also propose his now-famous #mentanamarathon at the country’s pivotal moments, such as the European elections scheduled for June 2024. Prime-time access will be, as always, occupied by Otto e Mezzo by Lilli Gruber, while the first evenings in the hands of diMartedì with Giovanni Floris, Atlantide with Andrea Purgatori, the second edition of Una Giorno Particular by Aldo Cazzullo, Piazzapulita by Corrado Formigli, Propaganda Live with Diego Bianchi “Zoro” and Makkox, Eden – A Planet to Save with Licia Colò. Also confirmed are the daily appointments with Omnibus, moderated by Gaia Tortora and Alessandra Sardoni, Coffee Break with Andrea Pancani, L’Aria che tira with the arrival of David Parenzo, Tagadà with Tiziana Panella and the afternoon appointment with the story of Once Upon a Time there was the 20th century with Alessio Orsingher and Luca Sappino, a first this year that is also confirmed for next season. From the autumn, In Onda, directed by Marianna Aprile and Luca Telese, will be on Sunday evening prime time programming.
The Cairo Communication Network, run by Andrea Salerno, achieved a 3.6% total daytime share and 4.8% prime time share in the season just ended, ranking fifth among the most-watched TV channels, ahead of Rai2 and Rete4 (of September 18th to December 24th and from January 8th to June 17th). The La7 system (TV + digital on proprietary channels) reaches over 38 million viewers every month, 2 out of 3 Italians. The excellent performance is also confirmed in the digital area: There are 26.2 million average monthly stream views on La7 websites and apps, with 7.3 million unique users.
“We are also very willing to provide a ‘public service’, maybe one day someone will notice and even give us a very small part of the royalty,” Urbano Cairo, La7’s reference shareholder, analyzed with a smile the large amount of information in particular produced live from the network. “We believe strongly in the continuity of successful programs and see no reason not to confirm them.”
Commenting on the hypothesis that Mediaset would be attacked after Berlusconi’s disappearance, Cairo added: “It is something that is neither in heaven nor on earth. I didn’t think for a second about taking over Mediaset.” That this hypothesis was quoted “I was also very sorry: the last thing to do when Berlusconi is gone is to say or think something like that. “ Even from a human point of view I would not have even thought of such a thing. “RCS was scalable because there was around 60% market share, it was contestable but Mediaset wasn’t,” he said on the sidelines of the La7 fixtures presentation.
When Cairo returned to the channel, he then commented on the suspension of “Non è l’arena”, explaining: “My relations with Giletti are unchanged, the contract expired and we preferred to end it early.” There is one very beautiful human relationship which I hope will continue, as he himself affirmed.”
