Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer was joined among his NFL peers by a political strategist and former US House Chief of Staff when his golf fundraiser finally went ahead on Monday, was able to reveal.
The event had previously descended into chaos when Poyer announced on Instagram that he was being forced to cancel the event.
He told his supporters that golfers and sponsors pulled out “at the last minute” due to “external pressure” over the Trump National venue in Doral, Fla.
But just five days later, the Bills star announced that the fundraiser would be back after a new sponsor, PublicSq, funded the event.
With the controversy behind him, Poyer hosted the event at former President Donald Trump’s golf course in Miami.

A source told that Poyer unsurprisingly received the support of a handful of his Buffalo teammates, including Matt Milano, Isaiah Coulter, Gabe Davis, Tyler Matakevich, Dezmon Patmon, Micah Hyde, Patrick DiMarco and punter Sam Martin.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky headlined the other NFL stars in attendance, which included Houston Texans linebacker Christian Kirksey and Chicago Bears safety Adrian Colbert.
However, was also told the guest list was represented outside of the sporting world and Garrett Ventry was on the fairways.
Ventry is a former House Chief of Staff and Senate Speaker who has advised Congressmen and Supreme Court nominees on communications strategy and public policy.
Alex Bruesewitz, a staunch Trump supporter, rounded out the guest list. He is a leading conservative political strategist and CEO of X Strategies.
Bruesewitz’s social media platforms are littered with photos of him and the former president, and he supports Trump’s attempt to return to the White House with #Trump2024 in his Twitter bio.
Following the event, Bruesewitz posted a tweet praising Poyer for keeping the event going despite the controversy surrounding it.
“Great to see my husband Jordan Poyer at his golf tournament at Trump Doral,” he tweeted. “The left tried to cancel sponsorship for the event because it was being held at a Trump estate, but the pro-American marketplace @officialpsq stepped in to ensure the tournament could go ahead.”

“We need more NFL players and celebrities like Jordan not bowing to the mob.” And we need more companies like PublicSq supporting 1A & America.”
Announcing the now-reversed cancellation, All-Pro Poyer said Erie County Medical Center — a Buffalo hospital he described as a “big sponsor” — had pulled out. ECMC told the Buffalo News that they were a “beneficiary.”
“ECMC has decided they can no longer withstand the pressure from above, from the people above them, and that probably has nothing to do with ECMC at all,” Poyer said in the lengthy Instagram video.
“I am truly grateful and blessed to have worked with the people I have worked with at ECMC over the past two years,” he said.

The ECMC Foundation remained the beneficiary of the event, but the event was sponsored by PublicSq, a self-proclaimed marketplace that aims to bring “pro-American” buyers and businesses together.
“PublicSq is proud to partner with Jordan Poyer. “We’re excited that he’s standing up to the abort culture mob that tried to prevent this charity event, and we will always support freedom-loving Americans like Jordan whenever the opportunity arises.” Michael Seifert, Founder and CEO of PublicSQ said in a statement to the New York Post.
In his previous Instagram video, Poyer added, “I’m not naive.” I understand where they are on the political spectrum, where New York is on the political spectrum. Do I agree with much of this? No, I will not do that. I’m sorry but I don’t.
“I often say the soft part out loud and some of you don’t like that.” My fault. I still put my ego aside and went to help those who needed help or needed a laugh.’
The Executive Director of the ECMC Foundation told The News: “The ECMC Foundation was fortunate to be the beneficiary of the Jordan Poyer golf tournament in Florida.” Although the Foundation was not a sponsor, we had an excellent partnership with Jordan and respect his decision to cancel his tournament; We hope he will consider supporting us at his future events.”
Poyer admitted that while he was “a little” upset about the situation, he was more saddened by the state of America.

“I’m upset that we’re at this point in America… It seems like our ego is preventing us from being a good person,” he continued in the Instagram video. Poyer established his eponymous foundation on May 17, 2022 with a “mentality of supporting those struggling with mental health and substance abuse of any kind.” Their job is to ensure that individuals and families affected by substance abuse receive support and education.
