After Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, it is the turn of Sherbrooke and Cookshire-Eaton to carry out preventive evacuations due to flooding.

Forty evacuations

More than 100mm of rain has fallen in the Sherbrooke area since Sunday evening. Sherbrooke City Public Safety Organization conducted about thirty evacuations in Cookshire-Eaton as well as a dozen in Sherbrooke as of Tuesday morning. The Cookshire-Eaton mobile home park has been particularly hard hit by the flooding of the River Eaton.

temporary situation

These evacuations were not to last long. Rainfall in the region is expected to decrease in intensity as the day progresses. Even if the rain stops, the level of the river will continue to rise, but major flooding is not expected. On the Sherbrooke side, residents near the Saint-François River are affected by evacuations.
