A 40-year-old man from Maine, United States, died Saturday after jumping into the water to save his two daughters, ages 12 and 13, who were swept away in deep areas of a pond.
Along with his 27-year-old son, Henry Brooks, 46, is said to have taken the plunge when he saw his two daughters being dragged into the deep waters of Seven Tree Pond in Union, according to the Maine Warden Service, the New reported York Post on Sunday.
But unlike his son, the man, who had not taken a life jacket, would have been swept away by the current, while his son would have managed to return safely to shore with his two daughters.
It would have been necessary to search on foot and in the water to find the father, who was fifteen meters from shore at the time of his disappearance.
