Dodgers News: Mookie Betts in midfield for the NL All Star Team – Dodgers Nation

It’s that time again. Voting is complete, the teams have been announced and the best baseball players have gathered in Seattle for the 2023 Seattle MLB All-Star Game.

And now we have the lineups for the Midsummer Classic at T-Mobile Park – with a mixed surprise for the Dodgers squad.

Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts will play in Tuesday night’s game as the third batter and center fielder for the NL All Star team.

It’s a small change for the outfielder, who plays mostly in the corner, but he’ll get a chance down the middle in the sport’s annual showcase.

A slight adjustment for him, yes, but he’s shown in the past that he’s capable of creating some fireworks down center, not least with that incredible catch against the San Diego Padres in 2021.

So baseball fans across the country have the opportunity to visit the Betts Patrol Center in Seattle, but that won’t be the only Dodger showing up to get the show going.

Joining Betts in the lineup is Freddie Freeman, who plays at his usual first base spot and hits second, while JD Martinez will hit the cleanup spot as the National League’s starting hitter.

Freeman had one of the best racquets in the Netherlands this season, hitting .320/.396/.556 at the break. His batting average puts him fourth in the NL.

It’s been a stellar season for Martinez as he gets his career back on track in the Dodger Blues. He’s hit a .255 with 22 homers and 62 RBI this season as he already has six more bombs this year than all of 2022.

It will be a very special show for baseball fans across the country as the best players MLB has to offer come together for the best All Star Game in any major sport.

Now it’s time to just sit back and enjoy how it all unfolds.
