When asked if working on her second album was a very different process after the success of her first, Rodrigo recalled how heartbroken she was writing “Sour.”
“I had so much to write.” “I always felt like I had all this stuff I needed to get rid of,” she said. “I think I definitely didn’t feel that this time, and I think it was kind of a lesson in learning how to craft a song.”
The Traitor singer said she’s working on “learning to wake up every morning, sit down at the piano and write a song, even if you don’t feel particularly devastated and not particularly inspired to write a song.” .”
She continued, “I think I was just trying to improve my songwriting craft and that’s a really important lesson that started that era.”
Additionally, the singer admitted she felt “a lot of pressure and definitely a lot of anxiety” after creating an album that resonated with millions.
“I was pretty overwhelmed. It’s quite a daunting task, but I wrote Vampire last December, so not that long ago, and I’ve always really enjoyed it. “I always felt like it was a special song, if not for anyone then just for me,” she said.
Rodrigo noted that the title “resonated” with her and that it “just felt right”.

As for the meaning of the single, she gushed that she likes the fact that it’s not just a song about “Oh, that person hurt me.” “This guy hurt me.”
“I think that’s rather superficial for me,” she emphasized. “What I love about it is that it kind of looks inward.” It’s more about my regret and kind of judging myself for doing something I knew wasn’t going to end well, and that I just take responsibility for it and deal with those feelings.”
Rodrigo also spoke about the importance of keeping her “private life” private.
“I think I’ll get as deep into my songs as I can, but I just don’t like talking about it.” “I think that’s the limit for me,” she said. “It’s what makes me feel sane and good about my job, my privacy and everything, but I guess I never think about a song coming out when I’m writing it.”

The three-time Grammy winner’s performance came on the same day it was announced that her lead single from her second album debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2021, she pulled off the feat with her popular tracks “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”
Earlier this month, she graced her first American cover of Vogue and took part in the publication’s 73 Questions video series.
During the broadcast, Rodrigo said she felt like a “different person” since the release of Sour, which has been streamed more than 40 billion times worldwide.
“I think she would be really happy with who she is,” the actress mused.
When asked about her relationship status, the performer was described as making a “mediocre hand gesture” before saying, “I don’t know!”
“I don’t kiss and tell,” she said with a laugh that seemed to acknowledge her success to date at channeling her love life and heartbreak into her music.

She continued, “It’s an interesting thing to think about.”
‘I get it. I could sit here and be like, ‘I don’t understand why people do this,’ but I do it so often,” she said of all the attention she’s with.
She then named her star crush: Bruce Springsteen, who is 73 years old.
The pop sensation later explained that she started singing at a young age because it was her passion.
“I got a mic from the Dollar Tree and made up songs about getting lost at the grocery store,” Rodrigo said. “I’ve always sung. “I’ve always been super motivated to do things.”

Fame came early.
“I remember when I was 13 and they asked me what I wanted my brand to look like and I just said, ‘I don’t even know what I want to wear tomorrow.’
Now she works all the time.
And she told Vogue her routine. “I wake up and make my little matcha and I make bacon for myself, and then I sit at the piano and try to write something, even if it sucks,” she said.
Her best work, however, came from pain.
“I think I believed those misconceptions for a while,” she says. “The most painful moment of my life became my most successful.”
