Judge Mathieu Poliquin accepted the Crown and Defense joint proposal. Jérémy Mongrain’s decision to plead guilty tipped the scales. However, the judge warned the perpetrator when the verdict was announced that the punishment would be significantly higher in the event of a repeat offense after his release from prison, especially since the 25-year-old had already been convicted in connection with violence and robbery.

Jérémy Mongrain has therefore settled several cases related to crimes committed in several regions of Quebec.

It all started with the information that Mongrain was a drug dealer. On April 2, 2021, the police conducted a search of his home. He was charged in May and then conditionally released. He then went to a therapy house, but was able to escape the next day.

On October 20th he carried out an armed attack in Trois-Rivières. A shot was fired. Then, four days later, on Epiphany, he entered a house to commit a robbery. Surveillance footage showed him holding a gun. He then stole a woman’s purse in the Laval Sector by pointing a gun at her.

After a long time, Jérémy Mongrain was finally arrested on November 20 in Shawinigan. During his arrest, he threatened an acquaintance who was by his side. He was also caught possessing cannabis.

Jérémy Mongrain was charged with several charges, including drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, robbery, illegal possession of firearms, burglary, death threats and misdemeanor.

His name was also mentioned in the file of René Kègle, guilty of the murder of Ophélie Martin-Cyr. According to the findings, Kègle wanted to use the young girl to track down Mongrain. No charges were brought against Jérémy Mongrain in this case.

After eight months in prison, he still has six years in prison.
