Black Tuesday for the summer festival: Already forced to replace their two main headliners of the day, the organizers decided to cancel the concerts in the middle of the evening as a violent storm was heading towards Quebec.

FEQ leaders preferred to act pre-emptively before the storm reached Quebec “due to the presence of several young people in the Plains for hip-hop night,” explained communications director Samantha McKinley.

Fortunately, according to the authorities, the evacuations went smoothly. All sites had been evacuated when lightning and rain hit the capital.

Previously, the FEQ had lost its hip-hop headliner. Lil Durk canceled his visit a few hours in advance, citing health issues. Promoted to star of the night, American rapper GloRilla has never set foot on stage.

Excluding the 2020 and 2021 pandemic period, this is the third consecutive year that FEQ has had to vacate its sites due to a storm.

Last year the concert of Latin star Luis Fonsi was cancelled. In 2019, the group Imagine Dragons had to leave the stage after two songs due to dangerous conditions.

In 2015, the Foo Fighters’ famous ‘4 song show’ made festival history when Dave Grohl, perched on his throne, fought the wind and rain for 25 minutes before the band had to leave the premises.
