Julia Koch, known as the third richest woman alive, has completed the sale of her sevenstory penthouse on New York’s Upper East Side for US$41 million (about R$199.7 million at current prices).
The 14,000squarefoot property features eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, along with a marble foyer, central staircase, kitchen and landscaped patio, the NY Post reported. Designed by Robert Couturier and renovated by architect Peter Marino, the house is described as a blend of “modern comfort and luxury”.
The master suite alone is 140 sqm and has a private living room, a fireplace and a double bathroom. There is also a separate service entrance, a security room, a staff suite and a fitness room. In addition to the staircase, the floors can be reached via an elevator.

Coverage was purchased in 2018 for slightly less than the amount sold. At this point, Julia’s husband, businessman David Koch, was still alive. Just look at the photos!
The former owner and her three children inherited shares in Koch Industries, one of the largest private companies in the United States, and managed to multiply their fortunes. In addition to the penthouse, Julia also announces the sale of an 18room duplex on Park Avenue for US$48 million (R$233 million if direct conversion). However, a spokeswoman for the philanthropist told the newspaper that she has no plans to leave New York. She would also have bought two properties on the Upper East Side of Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen’s estate for US$101 million (R$492 million), paying an additional US$70 million (R$492 million (R$341 million)) for one Coastal Southampton property for 2021. She also has a home in Palm Beach, an upscale area of Florida.

With an estimated fortune of US$58 billion (R$281 billion), Julia is the third richest woman in the world according to Forbes. In the realtime wealth ranking, the philanthropist is behind only Alice Walton, heiress to Walmart, and Françoise Bettencourt, heiress to L’Oreal. In the overall ranking, she is currently in 21st place.
