1687997784 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny A nostalgic tribute

I dreamed I was Indiana Jones – Le Journal de Montréal

It is summer. What if we let go of serious issues for once?

No, I didn’t dream of being Indiana Jones, but I needed a title.

So I watched the fifth and seemingly final part of his adventures.

cheers

It is good? Obviously, agreeing to play the game is good, even excellent.

You will see a comic. No more and no less.

The plot is completely far-fetched – this time Indy goes back in time – and I don’t give a damn.

It’s not the best (I think it was the first or third, the one with Sean Connery as Jones Sr.), but you don’t see the time go by.

A critic said that this film does not renew the series. We just don’t want it to renew itself too much.

When you go to McDonald’s or St-Hubert, it’s not about a gastronomic revival, it’s about discovering familiar flavors.

In this film, everything is as we want it: the hat, the whip, the jokes, the absurd car chases, the femme fatale, the crazed Nazis, and a humanity in mortal peril that the intrepid Indy is apparently about to save.

Spielberg and Lucas, who are serving as producers, didn’t want to let new director James Mangold deviate even a bit from the winning formula.

I had a more personal request. He was answered.

I was entitled to the return of Karen Allen, one of my twenties’ fantasies, who still plays Marion, the love of Indiana’s youth who has become his ex-wife.

I know nothing more touching than these beautiful women who gracefully embrace the passage of time.

Sometimes they win more than they lose.

We place the story in 1969 to be somewhat consistent with the fact that the hero appears to be in his early thirties at the beginning of the first film, which was released more than forty years ago and takes place in 1936 .

Why am I so attached to this weary hero on whom the curtain falls?

It’s not just because we have a snake phobia and deep down Indy is very shy.

Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr. is, we’re told, a PhD in Archaeology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

However, in the cinema, 99.9% of the time, one of two things is the case.

Either the scientist is some nerd as sexy as a jar of Cheez Whiz left in the back of the fridge.

Or he is a maniac who wants to destroy the world.

scholars

Indiana Jones is a scientist, a scholar, an intellectual, but also an idealistic adventurer and an unwilling seducer.

With him, knowledge becomes exciting and sexy. Nothing is more exciting than learning than solving a puzzle.

It is a point of view that has become rare today that makes the film a kind of commercial about scholastic perseverance.

Two hours escape seeing our world is not a luxury.
