At least one person was killed in a drone strike in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev last night. At least four people were injured, authorities said. For the third consecutive night, Kiev was attacked by what the military administration said were Iranian Shahed drones. There were explosions in several neighborhoods.
Shahed drones “entered the capital from different directions,” Kiev’s military administration said in Telegram. About a dozen of them were shot down in the airspace over the city. Falling debris was reported in five parts of the city. A 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were injured by shrapnel and taken to hospital, he said.
Two people were injured in Darnytskyi district by “debris”, Serhiy Popko, head of Kiev’s military administration, said on Telegram. It was unclear if the injuries were the same.
Mayor denounces fires
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in Telegram that after “explosions in the capital”, emergency services responded to emergency calls from Solomiansky, Shevchenkivsky, Podilsky and Darnytskyi districts. In the Podilsky district, a body was found during extinguishing work in an apartment building.
Klitschko said two people were taken to hospital in the Darnyzky district after debris damaged a residential building. It was unclear if these were the same injuries mentioned by the military administration.
According to Klitschko, two injured people in the Shevchenkivsky district were treated on the spot. According to him, the fires occurred in an apartment building in Shevchenkivsky and in a commercial building in the Podilsky district. Rescue teams are on site.
Warning of new drone attacks
Kiev’s military administration published a photo on Telegram showing a room in a high-rise building in the Darnytsky district, where part of a wall was apparently completely destroyed by debris. In a statement, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of the continued threat of Russian drone strikes.
