A woman was “devastated” after finding old messages on her husband’s phone from their first meeting, in which he told a friend he found her ugly.
Jane Lewis, 40, of New Jersey, checked her husband’s phone with his permission last month.
But it broke her heart to find a string of text messages from the beginning of their relationship in which she boasted to his boyfriend that “an ugly woman wants me so badly”.
The 35-year-old told his boyfriend he hasn’t “fucked” her yet, although she would “do anything for him”.

He went on to describe how all he had to do was “make out with her a little bit” to make Jane happy.
The sprinkler system technician sent the vile messages six years ago, but the couple married in 2021, however Jane only found out the messages last month.
Jane’s husband described meeting “that ugly woman” at the supermarket where she was then working and saying she would “literally do anything for him”.
He told his friend he’d moved in with Jane, but said he doesn’t find her as attractive as the “hot girls he sees all the time.”
Jack then went on to say that he believed he could get any girl, but most “hot girls are stuck anyway.”
Jane said she immediately confronted her husband, who was mortified and apologized for just trying to feel better.
The mother-of-three said her confidence had been shaken and she would have left him had she found the news sooner.
Jack, whose real name will not be released, described meeting “that ugly woman” at the supermarket where Jane was working at the time and said she would “literally do anything for him”.
Jane says her confidence has been shaken and she no longer believes it when her husband calls her “beautiful”.
Jane said, “I checked his messages to see who he was talking to.” He and his boyfriend don’t text that often, so I only had to scroll back about ten messages.
“When we first met, I said to one that he was taking advantage of me for my money, how ugly I was and that he would not have sex with me.”
“It was pretty bad. It was very shocking. I was devastated.
“He was embarrassed, he was quite upset and he apologized.” He said he felt guilty [at the time] and he wanted him to be better.
“I don’t know how to continue.” It hurts me. If he asks me a question, I’ll say, “I’m not stupid, I’m just ugly.”
“He calls me beautiful, but I don’t believe him.” It shook my confidence.
“I have ugly duckling syndrome.” I’ll always think I’m really bad looking.
“I would have left him if I had found the news at the beginning.” I have to try to get over it, it’s been seven years and we’re married.
“If it was someone else who found the news, I would tell them to go because if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t be with him. ‘I wouldn’t have stuck with so many things.’

The couple met while Jane was working at a grocery store where Jack was a regular customer.
She says they moved in together almost immediately and she thought the relationship was going well at the time Jack sent the messages.

Jane described him early in the relationship as “kind, appreciative and flattering”.
Jane said, “I thought we had a nice relationship.” I don’t understand any of that. He was so nice to me and grateful for everything I’ve done.
“He was very nice all around. I had to look again when I found the news.
“It seemed like our relationship was based on a lie.” He didn’t treat me like that. It was out of character.
“He wasn’t the person he was when we were together, he was sweet and flattering.” He’s clearly a different person to me than to his friends, and that’s a complete mess.
“Marriage means a lot to him and he said he would never marry unless it was someone very special, but I don’t believe anything he’s telling me now.”
“He could tell me one thing and other people another.”
