A deluge of mud and debris covered the Bernina Pass road H29, effectively preventing the passage of vehicles. The slide, which was undoubtedly caused by violent unrest, occurred on the night of Wednesday 12 to Thursday 13 July in the locality of San Carlo, north of the city of Poschiavo.
Traffic remains blocked. Only Pontresina and the Engadin can be reached from the Forcola Pass and from Livigno. Little Tibet can be reached from Italy via the Foscagno Pass. The Graubünden authorities are working to restore the road as soon as possible.

The H29 road has been partially reopened. By installing a traffic light, the traffic is guided alternately.
