It was the big premiere of the film Barbie last Sunday in Los Angeles. Under the blazing sun, the stars walked the pink carpet, understanding the dress code.
It must be said that the universe of the famous doll is well constructed, but of course it has evolved over time. With all the excitement leading up to it and the many outfits of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling playing Barbie and Ken respectively, the table was set. The interpretations were varied, underscoring the message each wanted to convey. Big surprise, pink wasn’t the most popular color in my favorite looks. Review of my top 10.

Nicky Minaj

Staying true to form-fitting outfits, Nicki Minaj opted for a candy blue two-piece from Alaïa. Her pose showed off her jeweled manicure.

Actress Gal Gadot opted for a more conceptual fantasy by turning to a creation by designer JW Anderson. The white stripes of the brown dress emphasize the asymmetry created by the folds of the skirt.

Singer Ava Max was perfectly attuned to the film’s advertising space. She opted for a modern sky blue Mônot outfit consisting of a sequined bra and long skirt paired with opera gloves, a necklace, rings and triangle glasses. She wore the touch of pink on her feet!

Actress Xochitl Gomez clearly played a role inspired by the Barbie universe. Slip into this Dolce & Gabbana gingham dress, embellished with satin ribbons and lace, paired with an umbrella and you’d think she’d just stepped out of one of those famous pink boxes!

After several weeks of pink looks, Margot Robbie wanted to make her mark on American soil by donning her first black outfit. Inspired by Barbie Solo In The Spotlight, it was Schiaparelli’s Daniel Roseberry who created the strapless dress, which was embellished with a cheeky flounce and a red rose. The early 1960s recreation is perfect and includes opera gloves, a sheer pink silk scarf, black mules by Manolo Blahnik and a multi-row choker by Lorraine Schwartz, not to mention her retro hairdo. Kudos to her stylist Andrew Mukamal for such a great promotional tour wardrobe.
Dua Lipa

It’s rare that I don’t like the Dua Lipa look, but this crystal net dress by Bottega Veneta felt too tight in the bust and the white thong panties only enhanced the piece’s nudity aspect. A movie premiere on the famous Mattel doll was certainly not the best occasion to flaunt this dress.

Barbie owned a couple of polka dot pieces and model Ashley Graham wanted to pay tribute to her by slipping on Nina Ricci’s polka dot tulle creation. The house is also known for the choice of patterns in its collections. A happy union!
Dove Cameron

If Barbie ventured into the Gothic universe, it would be Dove Cameron who would embody her! The singer juxtaposed her darker aesthetic with the hyper-feminine world of Barbie by opting for a draped outfit that paired a pink ballerina bustier with a black Ellie Misner skirt.

Last Saturday, Beyoncé performed for her first of two shows at Toronto’s Rogers Center as part of her Renaissance Tour in front of her fans, who were clad in a shimmering Tiffany & Co creation and donned new costumes.
The singer’s official jeweler for this world tour has designed a one-of-a-kind handcrafted dress that showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of her workshop and pays tribute to its designer, Elsa Peretti. It took approximately 200 hours to assemble the 300,000 rings into a web that holds the chains of Diamonds by the Yard® (diamonds per metre) that adorn the dress. Beyoncé completed this debut outfit with earrings and an anklet from the house.
