According to Article 140(3) of the Brazilian Penal Code:race slander(insulting a person because of their race, color, religion or national origin) is punishable by imprisonment from one to three years in addition to a fine.
However, according to Law 7.716/1989 of that country, racism applied against a collectivewhich discriminates against the integrity of an ethnic group is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years.
