Chris Tierney is leaving Montreal

The New Jersey Devils announced Friday that they have signed forward Chris Tierney, who played for the Montreal Canadiens last season, to a one-year, two-part contract.

The agreement earns him the minimum wage of $775,000 in the National League while he gets $400,000 if he plays in the American League.

Tierney brought some experience to Montreal in a group hit hard by injuries in the second half of the season. The Ontario native was claimed for waivers on February 23 and scored his first blue-white-red goal the next day against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 29-year-old forward has seven points in 23 games for CH. He also played 13 games for the Florida Panthers in the 2022-23 season and picked up three points and an additional 20 games for the Charlotte Checkers.

The one who also defended the colors of the San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators scored 236 points in 597 games in his career.
