Quebec’s Leylah Fernandez can now pack her bags and leave the Wimbledon area after losing her mixed doubles second round match at the famous grass tournament on Monday.
Along with her Dutch teammate Wesley Koolhof, she suffered a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 loss to Britain’s Jonny O’Mara and Olivia Nicholls.

Fernandez had previously lowered the flag twice and not once against France’s Caroline Garcia: first in the second round of singles on Thursday, then in the same stage of women’s doubles on Sunday. On that occasion, 20-year-old athlete and American Taylor Townsend lost to Brazilians Luisa Stefani and Garcia.
Over the next few weeks she will be able to focus on hard courts and in particular the National Bank Open in Montreal, which takes place from August 4th to 13th. The final Grand Slam of the season, the US Open (August 28-September 10), follows sometime later.
