At 18 you have to have the courage says France

“At 18 you have to have the courage,” says France D’Amour, the new coach of “La Voix”.

The new coach of The voice France D’Amour is inspired as always, working on her 14th birthdaye Career album this summer.

Not only has the singer-songwriter signed a deal to take part in next winter’s TVA music competition alongside Roxane Bruneau, Corneille and Mario Pelchat, but he’s also in the studio to burn the 10 tracks leading up to his next work — deliberately dubbed 14 — to be released next February, in the middle of La Voix season 10.

The 57-year-old redhead, who has a couple of gigs on her schedule this month, has around 30 songs composed for her next studio project so she was spoiled for choice when it came to picking the songs she liked the most.

In recent days, however, it has been the excitement surrounding her participation as a coach at La Voix that has given her the fever. We know that she was a mentor on Marc Dupré’s team in 2014 and temporarily replaced her friend Marjo last winter after she contracted COVID-19 during live broadcasts.

“La Voix” host Charles Lafortune was on set with France D’Amour last March while the singer-songwriter replaced trainer Marjo, who was ill with COVID-19.

This time she will have her own red chair and build a team. She speaks of a “great challenge”, of the responsibility to accompany her singers well and of the happiness of giving something back. His guiding principles will be authenticity and sincerity.

“You have to have a great sensitivity, be able to put yourself in the shoes of the person in front of you and know both their strengths and their weaknesses,” she told the QMI Agency, speaking of “just applying enough pressure, but not too much. ‘ to give everyone confidence before a performance.

Open to all music

Because France D’Amour loves and listens to everything in music, she doesn’t intend to limit herself to one genre of music at blind auditions. Above all, she will rely on her instincts when it comes to whether or not to press the button that rotates her chair.

“I will go there with emotions. I know it sounds cliche, but music is an emotional and sensory vehicle and that’s what I’m going to listen to first.”

“Mick Jagger isn’t a great singer, but look at his career. For me it is not the technology that is important, but what you drive!”

Learn to sell yourself

The most difficult thing in his case will be: ” [s]e sell” when a candidate has to choose between more than one trainer. “I don’t know how to do this. It doesn’t come naturally to me,” she said.

France D’Amour is a true showwoman, having learned her craft in the bar trade and ready to adapt to the experience and confidence of her foals. She admires young people who stand up for it and might not have dared to be part of The Voice. “I didn’t have that confidence when I was 18, but you have to dare.”

A 14e Rock, folk and pop work

About her next album, 14, she assures that it will speak in particular about hate on social networks, an essential issue if there is one, as well as the fact that “everything passes, the good as well as the less good”, or even his play Back to the Future, which is about going back to the age of 14… “I also have a song called ‘Pas sexy because I’m tired of this pressure’ and a song about racing that’s pretty rockin’ . ”

She collaborates with her guitarist Jason Lang and Doug St-Louis on this rock, folk and pop album. “There’s a very post-Malone side and a very guitar side with very sociological themes.”

She said of the other three coaches of The Voice season 10:
