Turkey approves Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard King

The soap opera of the takeover of the Activision Blizzard King group comes to an end: the FTC no longer has any power to prevent the publisher’s integration into Xbox Studios. While waiting for the final takeover, it is the Turkish commercial authorities who in turn give the green light to the transaction!

It’s a “yes” for Turkey!

Turkey approves Microsofts acquisition of Activision Blizzard King

As of this morning, 9 a.m. (French time), Microsoft has been able to complete the acquisition of the Activision Blizzard King company. Publisher studios will therefore always be able to integrate Xbox Game Studios and integrate Microsoft’s license pool. Following California Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley’s ruling denying the FTC’s appeal, we learned that Turkey also approved the acquisition unconditionally.

No official document has been leaked online, so we have to rely on Ms. Lulu Cheng Meservey, who is responsible for communications within the Activision Blizzard group. The latter claims that Turkey is the 39th state to do so and recognize the transaction as legal.

Today, Turkey unconditionally approved our merger with Microsoft.

Another country made a well-considered decision that protects consumers and competition, rather than the dominance of market leaders.

With Turkey, Microsoft thus receives a new weight support on behalf of a state that counts not far from 85 million inhabitants. The Redmond-based company’s latest legal battle in the coming days will be against Britain’s CMA, the last major territory to oppose the transaction.
